These beetles shows how beatifull colours can be achived in nature. The colours are bright and shiny.
Reserch is done analysing this colour phenomena in order to mimic it on artificial surfaces. The colours are propably a result of the interference phenomena. There are very thin semi-transparent layers on top of the beetles wings. These layers filter and amplify certain colors (wavelengths). |
