The mould is used in rotation moulding machine to produce the hands in PVC allowing the "impossible" geometry. As long as the polymer is warm (but not liquid) it can be draged out of a smaller hole returning to its casted shape.
The mould is made using electroforming. Based on an artists model of the hand a plaster mould is made. In this the black wax (with carbon) is casted. On the wax hand first a layer of copper is deposited followed by a very thick layer of nickel. |
