Process | Pressure casting |
---|---|
Used for high quality castings. It is also called "low-pressure casting" because of the low pressures involved.
Molten metal is forced upward by gas pressure into a graphite or metal mould. Pressure is maintained until the metal has completely solidified into the mould. A vacuum can also be used (lower porosity). |
