Process Planing
Planing produces flat surfaces and profiles.

In planing the part is moved linearly along the tool (the speed). The feed is achieved by mooving the part relative to the tool.

A variant of the process is called shaping. Here the speed is achieved by moving the tool and the feed by mooving the part.
