Process Vapour metalising
A fairly inexpensive way of aplying thin metal layers to many different types of surfaces (metals, ceramics, glas, plastic). Is used for coating CD's, lamp reflectors and gold-like plastic packaging material for chocolate.

The part is placed in a vacuum chamber. When vacuum is applied the coating metal is heated and metal vapour is released. The metal vapour turns into a metal coating on all surfaces in the vacuum chamber.
