Thread guides are generally made of two different types of titanium oxide TiO2 or Ti2O3, and then mirror polished.
They are used in textile machines for delicate yarns, thanks to their low friction coefficient. The version made of Ti2O3 also allows electrostatic charges dissipation, being the material an electrical conductor. When beside low friction, high wear resistance wants to be achieved, other ceramics materials are used (e.g. alumina or zirconia). |
